Carat, Caret, Carrot, & Karat

Carat is the unit of weight for precious stones.

In the metric system, it’s equivalent to 200 milligrams or 1/5 of a gram.

In the United States, one carat equals 0.007 ounce.

Caret is an inverted V-shaped mark (^) made a on written or printed matter to show that something needs to be inserted at that point in the text.


Carrot is an edible plant, more specifically an orange root.


Karat is a measure of the purity, or fineness, of gold. Pure gold is 24 karats.
